Pre-requisites:

You'll need to download these files and softwares in order to root your Asus Zenfone 5.

• Root Zenfone 5 Kitkat V2 (The main files)
• Intel Drivers (Zenfone USB Drivers)
• USB Data Cable (You'll have one)
• Windows PC (Linux won't work!)

In this tutorial we'll be using windows 7.

Intel Drivers For Asus Zenfone 5

The Main Procedure To Root Asus Zenfone 5 Kitkat:

• Download the Intel USB Drivers for Zenfone 5 from the above given links and Install them.
• Below are some screenshots while installing Intel USB Drivers.

• Once you have successfully installed the USB drivers, connect your zenfone 5 to pc using USB data cable.
• Make Sure that "USB Debugging" is turned on in your device's developer options.
• If not, go to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Information -> Tap Build Number 7 times to unlock Developer Options.
• Now in developer options check the box that says "USB Debugging".

• When you connect your zenfone 5 to pc, you'll be prompted to allow USB Debugging in your device. Click OK.

• Now, extract the "Root Zenfone 5 Kitkat V2" file which you have downloaded earlier.
• Right Click "files" folder while holding shift and select "Open Command Window here".

• Now in the command window, type adb devices to check whether your device is successfully connected to your pc or not.
• If your device is connected to your pc, then you'll see it listed in the command prompt window

• Now in your device, go to Settings -> About Phone -> Software Information. There you can see your device's model under build number tab. It looks something like ASUS_00J_WW_user....
• So, from there you can identify that your device model is WW. Other versions are TW and CHT.
• Now in your pc, go to "Root Zenfone 5 V2" and double click Root-ZenFone5-ww, which is a batch file.

• Now the rooting process of zenfone 5 has been started, your phone will reboot several times during this process, this is quiet common don't panic.
• This is the last reboot screen in the batch file.

• When you see the message "All done, enjoy your ROOTED Zenfone 5" in the command prompt, check your phone's app drawer.
• You should see SuperSU flashed on your device. Now download "Root Checker" app from play store to check whether your Asus zenfone 5 is rooted or not.
